Parenting Mediation / Family Dispute Resolution
Parenting Mediation (also known as Family Dispute Resolution) is a fast, efficient and low-cost way of helping parties sort out future parenting arrangements. In most cases, parenting mediation is a compulsory step parties must take before they can proceed with their parenting matter to Court.
Family Dispute Resolution can be used to address many different topics related to parenting children– for example, time arrangements, handovers, education, school holidays, diet, screentime boundaries, medical needs, relocation, extracurricular actvities, communication, parenting styles, new partners, and travel. You can still try Family Dispute Resolution even if you have Court Orders in place and/or have tried mediation before.
The Dispute Resolution Space can arrange half-day or full-day Family Dispute Resolution to help parents discuss and resolve issues in dispute in parenting matters. Our mediators are accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners (FDRPs) who will help parents consider different options and focus on the needs of their children. They are neutral and do not take sides. Our FDRP’s are trained in working in a family law environment, in responding to domestic and family violence and providing guidance on the developmental needs of children. Our FDRP’s work hard to ensure that parents feel safe and heard in mediation. Our FDRP’s can draft Parenting Agreements documenting any agreements reached during mediation.
